Summer at Norwood is embarking on its 21st year as a place where children expand their horizons each and every summer! Located on Norwood School’s beautiful 40-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland, Summer at Norwood provides a summer experience where children can explore and immerse themselves in innovative, diverse, and enriching programs.

In keeping with the tradition and philosophy of Norwood School, we are committed to small class sizes and providing a positive environment that fosters creativity and joy in learning, while helping children develop self-confidence and learn that “how you lead your life matters.”

Serving children ages 3 ½ to 14, Summer at Norwood offers a wide variety of programs that explore many different areas including the fine and performing arts, science and technology, outdoor adventures, academic enrichment, cooking, sports, counselor-in-training program, and more.  At Summer at Norwood, there is something for everyone!

Talented and experienced professionals lead all of our programs to ensure each child gets the full Summer at Norwood experience.  Assisting every teacher are dynamic high school and college-age counselors, many of whom are Norwood School or Summer at Norwood alumni.

Programs

Junior Day (3 ½ to 5 years old)

Day Camp (1st to 9th grade)

Adventure Camp (4th to 9th grade) (Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 4)

Counselor in Training (8th and 9th grade) (Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 4)

Urban Adventures (5th to 9th grade) (Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 4) 

Extended Day (Available to all campers for every session)

Dates and Times

Camp begins each day at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. The half-day option for Junior Day campers ends at 12:00 p.m.  Extended Care is also offered.  Before Care runs from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and After Care runs from 3:00 p.m. until  6:00 p.m.
Session 1 - June 18 to June 29 (2 weeks) 
Session 2 - July 2 to July 13* (2 weeks) 
Session 3 - July 16 to July 27 (2 weeks)
Session 4 -  July 30 to August 10 (2 weeks)
Session 5 -  August 13 to August 17 (1 week)
No camp on Wednesday July 4th

About Summer at Norwood

Summer at Norwood is one of the premier summer camps in the area for campers ages 3½ to 14 years old, or Pre-K to Ninth Grade. Serving children from Bethesda, Potomac, Rockville, Chevy Chase, McLean, Washington D.C., and the greater Washington metropolitan area, Summer at Norwood continues in the tradition of Norwood School as “happy place of learning,” rich in diversity, with exceptional faculty and staff. Our summer camp class offerings include: academic enrichment (math, language, writing, and book club), art, dance, theatre, science and technology (digital photography, robotics, movie making and animation), sports, outdoor adventures (camping, kayaking, and rock climbing), counselor-in-training program, and more.
